Virtue's CEO and founder, Brent Weisenborn, has been in the financial services business for over 30 years.

Past Partner and Principle in Energy Risk Management LLC (“ERM”), a proprietary trading firm focusing on the OTC Natural Gas markets as well as the grain complex.

 

Established Agora-X, LLC an ECN and ECM matching engine created for OTC commodity swaps and options in 2007 and voted by the NASDAQOMX Board to serve as Vice President of NASDAQ/OMX Commodities North America.  In 2009 Senators Bond and Roberts recommended Mr. Weisenborn to the President to fill the Republican seat as CFTC Commissioner.

Notable Accomplishments

Address to a joint committee of Congress:  
As president of Agora-X, Mr. Weisenborn was asked by two CFTC Commissioners to address possible transparency issues in the OTC market. Subsequently, Mr. Weisenborn was asked to write an addendum to be attached to the Anti Speculation Bill (Dodd-Frank). In the addendum, he outlined three requirements to bring transparency to the OTC market.  In February 2009, Mr. Weisenborn testified before the United States Congress to address transparency in the OTC commodity markets in the US. Agora-X, LLC was purchased by NASDAQ/OMX Group in February of 2010.

In 2004, Mr. Weisenborn was named President of a wholly own subsidiary of Community America. Directed the restructuring of and had responsibility for four businesses own by the subsidiary including: a broker dealer in Kansas City Missouri and La Jolla, California, a insurance company in Kansas City, a trust and pension company in St. Louis, Missouri, and the largest corporate strategic planning firm in the credit union industry located in San Juan Capistrano California.

President of Security Investment Company of Kansas City:
Founded and served as President of Security Investment Company of Kansas City, an institutional and high net worth only Broker-Dealer and NASDAQ Market Maker from 1987 until 2001.  Security Investment Company specialized in proprietary trading firm and wholesale market making in upper tier NASDAQ stocks, including Microsoft, Intel and Cisco Systems as well as municipal bond underwriting. The firm also acted as co underwriters for several equity issues in the technology space.  In addition, the firm’s 33 registered representatives provided institutional brokerage services and research for mutual fund families and very high net worth individuals.  Mr. Weisenborn traded futures and was an option market maker for futures, options and swaps as a proprietary trader since 1987.

NASDQ Chairman Region No. 4:
In 1998, Elected to the NASDR District No. 4 District Committee and served as Chairman from 1999-2001.  In addition, he also served as co-chairman of the District 4 & 8 (Chicago) Regional Committee.  In 2000, Mr. Weisenborn served on the NASDR National Advisory Council.  The Council is responsible for regulation oversight of approximately 55,000 stockbrokers in 2,500 offices.  In June of 2000, Mr. Weisenborn was elected to the NASDR National Small Firm Advisory Board.

Chief Investment Officer:
Managed $2 billion in trust assets for nine years and served as investment advisor and underwriter on several municipal bond issues in Missouri and Kansas.  Additionally, Mr. Weisenborn served on the Trust Policy Committee for the second largest trust department in Kansas for five years as Chief Investment Officer and as a Registered Investment Advisor.

Mr. Weisenborn is a husband and father, an active golfer, private pilot and scuba diver.  He began is career with the Kansas City Chiefs and was a founding member of the National Golf Club of Kansas City.
